That a program is better than another is in the most cases a personal decision and i find it nice to have the programs from the original kdemultimedia package because they are my first way to test the sound under kde. Here i must say that the debian way to split everything in so much little packages is for me not very user-friendly. But the deciding thing in the case of kdemultimedia is that if the programs works let the original package from kde as it is. The arch way to have at example no devel packages is still again for me the best way what i have seen.
