Well, I don't agree.

If the arch dev who packages KDE were the one that was setting up those 
associations, then I'd say yeah they should stop doing that.  But if I'm 
not mistaken, those associations are what KDE ships with by default.  So 
IMO, KDE should continue to ship with its default settings - and its 
default multimedia apps.  Then, if someone wants to install and use 
other apps and customize their file associations accordingly they can do so.

It's one thing to remove admin apps that cannot possibly be of use on 
anyone's Arch system.  (Which is the issue that started this thread.) 
But it's another to start going down the path of slicing, dicing, and 
tweaking KDE packages just to suit various users' preferences.

Just my $0.02, of course.  (Though I think this approach is probably 
much more in line with The Arch Way than what you suggest.)
