Ok, so heres the story... I did a system upgrade some days ago, after 2 days, I reboot, and some of partitions stop showing in "media:/" (I use kde). I insert a vcd, a dvd, and nothing! no popup asking me what to do. Even entries from hdb (the drive with arch installed) is missing. "lshal | grep hdb" gives nothing. All this was working fine until the update. I went through the logs and found hal to have been updated. So, I thought that the new patches in 0.5.8.1 might be the issue. But, no go even with disabling the patches. So I rebuild 0.5.7.1 and everything is back to normal.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of behaviour ? Anyone happen to have a fix for this? If a lot of people are actually experiencing such issues, can a revert to the previous version be considered? Also, if anyone who has had this problem.. got it fixed by upgrading to testing?
