I just received an answer from marc[i1], one of the maintainers of
archlinux.fr . Here is his answer, followed by a translated version
(approximative, I tried to keep as near as possible to the author
message) :

"Bonjour,
Hi,

d'archlinux.fr.

I'm corresponding to the mediator in the name of all the admins of archlinux.fr.

After some insults, Benoitc just expressed on the mailing-list the
conditions for a merge of both websites :

"I'm ready to link to their repo and gallery if they merge their
current content with archlinuxfr.org, that's
all. So they could continue their original projects without be
disturbing. Seems they can now have
their own server. For sure I can't give them any password or admin
level on archlinuxfr.org. I don't trust them."

In addition to an unpleasant atmosphere, those conditions bring
technical problems. For example, it is obvious that an admin access is
necessary and that we won't be able to cooperate without a climate of
trust.

For this reason, we're asking that the moderation starts by taking out
these conditions, and most of all that the discussion isn't done
directly with Benoitc but with the other admistrators of
archlinuxfr.org with whom we always had very cordials relationships.
On our side, the administrators that were in charge of the separation
and the creation of archlinux.fr won't take part in the mediation
process to make the discussion progress without consideration of what
happened in the past.

We wish to rapidly find a solution to this conflict. Best wishes.

"

That being said, it is now clear that both side are willing to take
part in a discussion to find a solution, within or outside a mediation
process. So here is what I'm proposing :

1 - Since Benoit seems opposed to a mediation, I'm proposing that the
discussion is done directly between both sides.

2- Both sides nominate 2 members responsible to take the lead of the
discussion. The reason we need two members is to avoid the process
being slowed down in case of absence of a member. The "leaders" will
be announced on the Arch mailing-list OR an announce is made that the
side doesn't want to take part in the discussion process.

3- Both sides "leaders" of the discussions communicate with each other
to determine where and how the discussion will take place. Here I'm
proposing the discussion is made public, but not on the main Arch
mailing-list since it will be in French and that it's not really the
best place for it. A suitable place will need to be found (Google
group maybe ?).

4- For my part, I'm proposing to act as an observer. My role would be
limited to informing the Arch team when substantial progress or
decisions are made, and limit my interventions only when the
discussion is drifting away or entering in a deadlock. I also ask both
side to signify if they accept me as an observer or not. In the case
of a rejection by either side, another observer would need to be
found.

I know that might seem a bit complicated for nothing, but I think it
is necessary to avoid falling again in fights and insults.

I think we have a good start here. So let's get things straight from
both side, and then start the work. This is the reputation of the
french community that is at stake.

Sincerely yours,

Leif Thande
