Hi all,

I'm writing to the list to inform you about the progress in the french
Arch community, or should I say, the total lack of progress.

Since 4 days now, I'm trying to get both side to talk to each other. I
tried to schedule a discussion between both groups. I discussed with
the archlinuxfr.org side during an hour and a half just to try to
define the conditions of the discussion, to avoid it falling in a
round of insults that would lead nowhere. During all the conversation,
Benoit disagreed almost to every suggestion I made, arguing that if a
discussion was to take place, it would be following his rules. The
archlinux.fr asked that benoitc doesn't take part directly in the
discussion to avoid problems, which he never accepted. If you want to
make your own idea, you can read the whole log of the discussion here
(in french ) :

http://ourserver.homelinux.org/leif/%23archlinuxfr_2007-06-01_16h45.txt

I then tried to get both side to set a day the discussion would take
place. An offer was made by both side for this weekend , now Benoit
just decided on an impulse that it isn't possible until next week.

I then went to talk to Benoit on IRC, and guess what, I got kicked of
the channel.

This circus has lasted long enough. my patience has limits and it's
been reached. Benoit is making all he can to keep the process from
moving on.

Considering this, I'm not interested anymore in taking part in this
discussion. If someone is willing to give it a try, go for it, but be
sure to know there will be serious obstruction in your way.

Also, I'm asking the Arch developers the two following things :

1) Add http://forums.archlinux.fr/ to the Non-English Forums list on
the archlinux.org website.

2) Ask Benoit to remove the the "official" mention on archlinux.org
since he is clearly not representing the majority of the french
community and he isn't doing anything to get along with whoever
contradicts him.

For my part, I'm joining archlinux.fr and encourage every french user
to join this website. If Benoit wants to manage his website like his
own toy, we can't keep him from doing it, but we can express that we
clearly disagree with the way he chose.

I wish this would had brought a better outcome, but this is clearly
not possible for the reasons previously mentioned.

Sincerely yours,

Leif Thande
