Dear all,
My name is Gabriela and I work in Condephaat, the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Government of São Paulo, Brazil. I have been following Arches developments with great interest and I would like to test its suitability to the inventory needs of our organization, in regards to a possible future IT contract that would allow us to have the proper technical assistance to customize and manage a local version of Arches. But before that, and in order to make this possible, I need to test it and demonstrate results of testing. I share with the previous posts in this topic and the more recent https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/archesproject/OZFLRgrkO_M/5uy9xptfJQAJ the problem of not having enough technical expertise to follow the installation and customization instructions alone – although I have tried and made through until a certain point – and our Department does not currently have IT personnel to help. Understanding that it is not possible to provide an “easy installation” mode, I would like to hear your thoughts on some possible ways to carry on the tests. 1.Use the Demo version a. am trying to create heritage resources on the Demo, but what I insert is not saved and is kept on pending review mode (*“**This resource has provisional edits (not displayed in this report) that are pending review”*). Is this correct? I have already received the email saying “Reference Data Manager access granted”. b. Is there any form to save locally a few bits of information entered in the demo version (apart from print screens) since it will be overwritten on a regular basis? c.When the edition of controled vocabularies is enabled, is it possible to create new data categories or just modificate volcabularies of the existing data fields? 2. Proceed with installation trial a. What would be main abilities to learn in order to be able to perform a basic local installation of Arches? Python? What else? b. Has anyone yet registered in a more thorough way the step-by-step process of installation on Windows? (eg. “open your command prompt, type xxwiwyi”...) If so, it could help people like me to overcome some interpretation doubts on the documentation already available. I thank you all in advance, Gabriela Toledo Silva *Specialist in Public Policies * *Department of Cultural Heritage of the **Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy* *São Paulo, São Paulo- Brazil* -- -- To post, send email to [email protected].
