There is a lot of back and forth now on opinions, and while that is
great that people are involved, the message might get lost in the noise,
so I suggest that we go back to making it simple, so feedback can help
guide ARIN directions..
As a community we have to present a clear message either way, and then
move on..
The choices are, simply maintain the current standards, and let people
get IP Space as it has been, until we run out and then let the free
market take over, or show enough support from the community that ARIN
should change direction, and start acting as a 'judge' for whom should
receive the remaining IP Space.. IF the later is decided, the we can
worry about helping create policies on how to judge those requirements.
The current system as it stands, it does make it simpler for the
'speculators' to get IP Space, (I still think we need to help ARIN set
policies on how to get space back from speculators or those currently
not following the existing policies), and the concern is whether that
inhibits the ability of smaller needs based operators getting some
before it runs out.
Why don't we first of all all express our simple votes..
A) Leave the current system alone, and let the free market work it out
B) Enpower ARIN with more abilities to 'judge' who gets the remaining space
If we can't get overwhelming support for B, then the needs based
argument is moot..
