I concur, Rock is what Rahman has explored the least off, yet I understand he has a lot of experience in it as with jazz. Also, the rap from Rahman's stable is pretty lame (sorry blazze and company), it might have been oky like 15 years ago but it'z totally uncool (for me at least). Secondly, he needs to get more international artist when he does non-Hindi/Tamil songs, like Dreams on Fire is such a beautiful song but the singing is not upto par. Now that many more doors are open for Rahman, I am sure we are gonna see something refreshingly new with the unmistakable Rahman touch!
