Peter, I have done this in the past, but not the way you are going about it.
My solution to this problem was to install the adobe PDFWriter virtual printer. By adding a line in the PDFWriter ini file, you can specify a path and filename. There are some issues with this solution, one is that the path and filename entry is removed from the ini file after a report prints. Therefore, you would need to have a static ini file sitting in a directory and after each report prints, rename that report's filename then copy the static ini over printer's ini file to "re-insert" the file name. You could then print the next report, rename the file, copy the ini and print again. This actually worked quite well over a long period of time. We had a series of about 100 reports (1 for each school in the school district) that needed to go out on a weekly basis. I would simply "launch" the reports with a single button click and through active link guide logic would produce each report, attach it to an email and send it out.
