Along the same line... I use Redirection Port Monitor (RedMon) with GhostScript to generate pdf reports to a file for several years (with MS Access, not Remedy). Once the software is configured all pdf files are created in the same folder with the same name - no need to recreate/copy an original ini file.
The Access program generates the report and prints it to a specific printer (I named it 'Access PDF'). The printer creates the pdf file in the c:\ folder as rpt.pdf. I then move the report file to a permanent location - in your case attach the file to a form. Note: Initially configuring GhostScript and RedMon to create pdf reports was tricky. If you (or anyone else) gets stuck just let me know and I should be able to help. My solution to this problem was to install the adobe PDFWriter virtual printer. By adding a line in the PDFWriter ini file, you can specify a path and filename. There are some issues with this solution, one is that the path and filename entry is removed from the ini file after a report prints. Therefore, you would need to have a static ini file sitting in a directory and after each report prints, rename that report's filename then copy the static ini over printer's ini file to "re-insert" the file name. You could then print the next report, rename the file, copy the ini and print again. This actually worked quite well over a long period of time. We had a series of about 100 reports (1 for each school in the school district) that needed to go out on a weekly basis. I would simply "launch" the reports with a single button click and through active link guide logic would produce each report, attach it to an email and send it out. The aim is then to load the file into an attachment, all without the help or hindrance of the user. I have tried running the reports directly from the Open Window to Report action and also embedding it into a macro (even edited to include to-file: filename) but always end up being prompted for the type of file and location. I've looked through the archives and can't find any reference to this problem. Is there anyone who has managed to do this apparently unsupported action? The server version is 6.0.1.
