Hi James,
This is really a very interesting topic. If I go to the logfile, I see a
"NO WRITE FREE" if a user requested a WRITE-token when none was available.
I would also expect it to say something like "FLOAT GRANT READ" if a user
logs in and does not request a WRITE-token.
If I go through the API, I can see that the users license type is FLOAT
and that she/he is assigned a READ or a WRITE, but there is no way to
determine if the user WANT'S a WRITE-token or if the user has not
requested (needed) one.
I looked at the 100 last uploaded logfiles to rrrLic, and find only these
variations concerning FLOAT-licenses:
FLOAT ADMIN RELEASE
FLOAT EXPIRED WRITE
FLOAT GRANT WRITE
FLOAT NO WRITE FREE
FLOAT RELEASE
FLOAT WRITE UPGRADE
There is no instance where there is a FLOAT GRANT READ or anything
equivalent.
This makes me question if the ARSystem works in the way that has been
described in this thread. Namely that the server does not grab a
WRITE-token until the user actually performs a submit or modify call...
If someone has a system where this actually happens, I would appreciate to
get a look at the user.log-file. Or even better, discuss it in person with
me at the RUG/BUG/BUW. You may find me wandering about, or you could give
me a call at +46 705 85 43 00. I have a shirt wich reads "License
Management" on the back...
