Back in the 4.x world I was using DSO to keep a reporting server updated and if I remember correctly was able to push about 7000 records an hour through DSO. While that isn't enough to be able to keep up with data replication to another DB it should certainly be fast enough for follow the sun operations, after all...that is the entire reason DSO was created...for follow the sun operations.
