Yes that is one way to do it.  It involves the administrators developing
workflow to get Mid-Tier to function like the desktop client.  If it is
not, this functionality should be included in the Mid-Tier at
installation without the need for customization.  In my opinion,
Mid-Tier will not replace the desktop client until this functionality is
included.
