Hi Folks,
Thanks to an off-list reply, I have a solution...
Larry,
I'm not sure if this is the same issue, but I had similar symptoms
when my attachment pool was on a tab that the user didn't have access
to.
I use an Admin tab (Admin only permissions on the tab) to hold all of
my hidden fields, and as long as the user has permissions to the
individual
fields, everything works fine. Except for the attachment pool for
some
reason. I can't remember if there was a bug listed or not, but as
soon as
I moved the attachment pool off the page holder/tab, everything
worked fine.
My case is exactly as described... my pool was on an "admin only"
tab. I did as suggested above, and things are now working as expected
for everyone, regardless of group membership.
Thanks Thad!

Sorry to followup on my own post, but I realize I left out all of
the important details about my system:
ARS server 5.01.02 Patch 1313 on Sun Solaris 8
DB is Sybase 12.5.2, also on Solaris 8.
User tool is 5.01.02 Patch 1418
Thanks.

Hi Folks,
I am having a problem with the PERFORM-ACTION-ADD-ATTACHMENT process.
The short description of the problem is that it seems to only work
for users who are a member of the Administrator group. I have read
the documentation and there does not appear to be any restriction on
who can run it. I am attempting to call it from an active link. A
return code of 2 is returned, and the "Get File" dialog does not even
appear.
I can think of two reasons why it might behave this way:
- Administrator group membership is required.
- Some permissions problem.
I have checked the permissions on the active link, the attachment
pool
and the attachment in the pool. They all include groups that the user
is a member of. I have also checked the "allow any user to submit"
checkbox. Still no joy.
I submitted this question to BMC support yesterday, but I have
received
no response thus far. I also attempted to search the BMC KB for
issues
with attachment processing, but the interface crashed with Java
errors
on the two platforms and two browsers that I tried.
So, does anyone have any suggestion on other things to check?
Thanks.
Larry
