Thank you for the correction. I get my information, second hand. We do run IA64 systems in another project and they advised no MS SQL 2000 for that machine.
However, my guidence stands. I would try the latest version of MS SQL that I could get my hands on. If you have to work with 2000, then I would get the latest SP that I could to cover my vulnerabilities.

There IS a 64 bit version of MS SQL 2000; it was released in 2003.
This was a big thing for Microsoft because there was a race with oracle to be the first to support IA64.

MS SQL Server 2003 does not exist.
My gut feeling is that the installation of AR 5.x or 6.x will perfectly work on SQL server 2000/ia64.
