James, The weather here is very nice. We’ve
finally begun to cool off (we just got to the 50’s during the morning)
but otherwise it’s beautiful as always. Thanks for your advice. Bruce From: Action Request

That's
what I thought as well. I will be using this in my argument to push the
upgrade to an earlier time period.
Thanks,
Bruce

Bruce: The only
method that I know of to release licenses through the web for 5.1.2 is to be on
top of the situation and to release the unused license through the admin tool. However,
you can upgrade just the web server portion to 6.3 and have it work with your
5.1.2 server if you are on the appropriate patch level. I would HIGHLY
suggest this as the server will be the one enforcing license requirements and
not the Mid-Tier server. Also, as an added benefit you will be free of
the Java client applet on your user systems and performance appears to be
better (no more launching applications...) James
McKenzie -----Original
Message----- I've
looked through the archives and noted a couple of good pieces of information,
however there doesn't seem to have been any resolution to the question on how
to release licenses used by midtier users when they leave the application
before the minimum timeout. I am
currently in an environment using AR Server 5.1.2 p 1319 and MidTier 5 From
previous articles, I have seen that while the process PERFORM-ACTION- EXIT-APP
seems to release the license when using the WUT, it does not from the web, and
the process _javascript_: window.> (); may
only work in 6.3 (or it may not work at all, the message wasn't too clear to
me). We are
about 2-3 months away from being able to upgrade, and in the interim we are
trying to determine if we can push off the need to purchase additional Floating
licenses through workflow (as it would only seem logical to do). Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, The information contained in this electronic mail message,
