Well, I'm hoping that tomorrow's webcast (4:00 pm EST) might shed some
light on the subject.

Subject: Re: ITSM 7.0 Migration Path (UNCLASSIFIED)

Hi Gordon,

There is no plan on a migration path that I know of. Basically the old
ITSM ends at 6.3, and the new begins at 7.x. 7.0 was created by Viadyn?
and is totally revamped, new forms, new field IDs, everything is new
except concepts. So don't expect anything that will cleanly migrate.

I'm on a 7.x project since April and contracted until next April.
ITSM 7.0 and CMDB 2.0 are monsters, huge projects. No more days of rapid
results installs. Also when ITSM patches it patches applications,
overwriting forms, and workflow. So if you customize anything OOTB your
at risk.

We are building everything as addons and plugins and trying not to
touch anything OOTB, which is the mandate of the CIO so they can stay
upgradable and supported. So basically if you got <6.x customers that
want to go to 7.0, its a new, seperated project.

Good luck

Ken LaPierre
