>From Dev Studio in Best Practice mode you can right click Unmodified objects and select "Convert to Custom". We were in exactly the same situation as you and we did this after upgrading to 8.1 from 7.6.04.
You also could use the driver program to script converting objects (but is is probably quicker in Dev Studio).
