OK... So I did not hit it exactly right, but I was guessing. You idea
sounds like a better option. It would not allow the input map to have
it and it is not an element for the user to see. (Assuming that it
works the way it sounds like it would.) But that does make me wonder
what the WSDL would look like under those conditions.  I might have to
go poke a stick at that when I get a minute. :)

As Carey said you can delete fields from the XML.  To add your own
Defaults just put the data you want as the default in the DefaultValue
property of the element.  If you set the Element property to False and
the Use property to prohibited it will not show up for a consumer to put
a value into.
