ARDBC LDAP is used to retrieve information from Active Directory, as in
workflow to populate the SHR:People form. AREA LDAP Authentication is
used to provide authentication between ARS and an LDAP data store when
needed, i.e. UNIX ARS Server connection to Windows Active Directory.

Thanks,

Andrew Baxter

OK...that makes sense now. I am using the AREA LDAP for workflow I have
that is gathering user's data and populating the people form. Sorry...I
guess I was confused also about which form was used for the
authentication. My ARDBC LDAP is set up correct too...I will check with
my sys admin guys for more info about which server has the global
catalog like the other person suggested.

Thanks,

Lisa

**

I messed up.. I am sorry,

I thought data was being retrieved.. this is the purpose of AREA..

I saw the SECOND email sent with AREA settings.. and went in that
direction, my bad..

AREA is used for DATA retrieval/Update , not authentication.

ARDBC LDAP Confiration is all that is needed for Authentication..

Thank you .. the original message was fine.. the Second message got me
off track..

AREA is not needed. at all.

Sorry..
