Hi Thad,

I just tested again. I cleared the Timezone on my login preference
record. I connected to our Windows 2000 (SP4) server and tried the
Mid-Tier. NO 'caught exception'. I just tested a Windows 2003 server
(SP1) also. NO 'caught exception' error. I then tried from my Windows
XP machine again and I got the 'caught exception' problem.

What BMC support told me at one point was that the login java script was
being bypassed - this was actually happening before I applied Patch 20
on the Mid-Tier BUT AFTER I applied the Windows OS and Java DST patches.
My problem at this time was that anyone logging into the Mid-Tier was
seeing +6 hours on all the times - even though all the machines were set
to CST. This problem went away when I installed Patch 20 but the
'caught exception' problem started.

Thanks,

Mary Ann

Mary Ann,

You mentioned that you didn't get the error on a Windows 2000 server,
but you did on an XP machine. I just tested this on XP, Windows 2000
sp4, and Windows 2003 and received the error on all three. Are you sure
you had cleared the Time Zone field of your user preferences record when
you tested on the Windows 2000 machine?

Thanks again,

Re: Caught exception :Object Expected

We are having the same problem on our Mid-Tier - 'Caught Exception:
Object
Expected' when displaying any time fields after installing Patch 20 on
Mid-
Tier 6.3.

The problem only seems to be happening from Windows XP machines. When I

access the Mid-Tier from a Windows 2000 server, it does not happen.

To solve the problem temporarily, I added a User Preference record for
each user and set the Locale Timezone value in the record to
America/Chicago (since all our users are on Central Standard Timezone).

Based on what Lynn did, I'm going to try to re-install Patch 20 by
manually replacing the files instead of re-running the installers. BMC
suggested Patch 21 also (limited release) but I'm not ready to try that
yet based on Thad still having the same problem.

Thanks for all the valuable information.

Mary Ann
