There is a different license schema between 6.3 and 7.x
Did you do a purge or an upgrade? I know it's kinda screwy, we went
through the same problem. Upgrading and changing a server at the same
time isn't the easiest. We just had our support people take care of it
with BMC.
I would take that new 6.3 license key from the purge and put it in a
lic file then send it for upgrade to BMC. They will convert it over to
a 7.x license and you should be good to go.

Subject: Transferring a Server license
**
Hey everyone-
This is probably something fairly simple that just isn't clearly
explained on the support site.
We want to take a license off our current dev server and put one
on a brand new server that we are doing a fresh installation on. I did
a purge request where I supplied the old license key and the new host
ID. I got a new key via email fairly quickly, but when I applied it I
got the warning
"ARWARN [469] Warning, this key is not valid for this server.
The preceding message occurred during the execution of active
link AR System Licenses Console:Update License -- action 1. (ARNOTE
1101)"
After clicking OK the normal "BMC Software herby grants..."
popup appeared.
Our old license was for 6.3, and we are doing an install now of
7.1. We are on RHEL 5 and DB is Oracle 10g. There is no upgrade going
on, everything is a fresh out of the box install.
Thanks for any help with this!
Chris Moore
