My apologies for posting this twice but the first one went without a subject line.
Joe and Claire, I am using SMTP out and POP3 in. I forgot to remove the encrypted password string from the emaildaemon.properties file. After that and rerunning the emailstart with the -u password switch it appears to be ok. my overnight escalations that run notifications sent out all of the messages. It seems that no matter what the interval setting in .properties file it takes more than 30 minutes to reset the email engine. I guess there's a refresh timer for our Exchange server as well. Reset the password in the service then and see if it works. That has worked for me when they made me change the pw. The last time around, we created a password that would be next to impossible to hack, that they let me have a non-expiring password for the email. Heck, I have trouble typing it! The ARSystem has come back up fine but the email engine is not processing. I've changed the Remedy Email service Run As password. I've changed the AR System Email Mailbox Configuration passwords. I've run the EmailStart.bat with -s servername and -p password setting added. Maybe I did this in the wrong sequence because the email engine will not send email. Any help would be appreciated. I tried to place a call with BMC but there Helpdesk system is down. Maybe they reset a password too;^> John J.
