Oracle OpenWorld 2009 will take place as usual. They have three main events in 2009: Latin America: March 10-12 Tokyo: April 22-24 San Francisco: October 11-15 http://www.oracle.com/openworld/2008/index.html So my point is, it all depends on what a company and its customers and partners expect from its conference. If you only view this as a cost burden, you may as well cancel it altogether. If you view this as big opportunity to drive business, then you go ahead with it and make sure you meet the expectations. -Guillaume -----Original Message----- From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) on behalf of Chapin, John Sent: Tue 01/06/09 4:24 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Other shoe just fell, no UserWorld 2009, so on with the ARSlist Awards I doubt that the decision was more complicated than comparing cost of event with projected attendance. The cost of the event probably has not changed significantly, but the projected attendance must be way, way down. Lots of companies have travel restrictions because of the horrible condition of the economy. Spending any amount of money on "conventions" just doesn't fly these days. ________________________________ From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) _______________________________________________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org Platinum Sponsor: www.rmsportal.com ARSlist: "Where the Answers Are"
