I figured this out eventually. Since the SLM log recreated itself and overwrote the important information every time it crashed (every 20-30 seconds) it was hard to get good info. I ended up having to do a tail -f on the log file. Once I did this I could see the issue was with the actions. Apparently, it didn't like adding actions manually to a milestone created by a template. Every time I try and do that the system freaks. Easy enough to work around, even if it is a little tedious.

We fixed it by turning off the Brie server. A couple of months later we went through the entire list of work for the Brie server. (This is found in forms.) We deleted this work (which was the culprit of the problem), and restarted the Brie server. It has run quietly ever since.
