When you check your TCP/IP properties in SQL manager, did you set the "IP ALL" TCP/IP Port to 1433?
On that installer page, you select the appropriate DB authentication (Windows Auth or SQL Server) depending on how you set up your DB. Host Name will be the name of your windows machine (System Properties) AR System Server Port defaults to 1433 DB instance should be <Hostname>\<Servername> Everything else should be default. I go it. :) I'm in the remedy installer where it lists ip address, port, instance name, db name, db id, server db pw, etc. I've entered the appropriate info. When I click next, I am still getting the message: tcp/ip connection to the host (#) using port number 1433 failed. -----Original Message----- From: Hum, Edward <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Mon, Jun 29, 2009 9:01 pm Subject: Re: SQL failing with port 1433 & Instance Name ** You can find the instance name through the SQL Config Mgr. Under the SQL Server Network Configuration branch, there will be another branch that says Protocols for <Servername>. Or you can open up your Services (i'm assuming you're on a Windows box), find the SQL Server process, your instance name will be in brackets beside it. But exactly where would i see the instance name? -----Original Message----- From: Hum, Edward <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Mon, Jun 29, 2009 6:48 pm Subject: Re: SQL failing with port 1433 & Instance Name ** In your SQL Configuration Manager, did you set your TCP/IP ports to 1433? The instance name should be what you called your SQL Server database when you installed it. When you log into the Configuration Manager (if you installed the SQL management tools) you should be able to see the Instance name.
