The web client will use the same AREA plug-in automatically.   Have you tried 
just logging in from the web client?

The only gotcha would be if you also created a DLL that runs on the thick 
client's desktop system to do some sort of credential gathering.  If that's the 
case, you'll have to somehow replicate that gathering on the browser or 
Mid-Tier side.  Here's the white paper on how to do that:

** Dear All,

I have created an Java AREA Plugin for custom authentication. The plugin 
successfully authenticates requests made from  remedythick cleint. Now i need 
to enable the remedy web interface to use the same plugin.

 I have a java implementation with me that does this. This is achieved by 
implementaing a  class that extends the com.remedy.arsys.session.Authenticator 
class. I do not see this class in the version 7.1 api.

Kindly direct me on how the objective can be achieved.
