The web client will use the same AREA plug-in automatically. Have you tried just logging in from the web client?
The only gotcha would be if you also created a DLL that runs on the thick client's desktop system to do some sort of credential gathering. If that's the case, you'll have to somehow replicate that gathering on the browser or Mid-Tier side.
