Hi Charles, How are you doing.. Are you still with WCG?
The only reasons that Remedy recommends installing Asset first, is that if you install other apps first, they install Assets footprints (scaled down version that could be used for inventory and not really management). This would add up the time taken to install.. Installing Asset first however cuts down the time to install other components as they find Asset installation in the Shared Application Properties, and then skip copying the asset related forms and workflow. Since you already have the other apps in place, time to install is not really of essence, so you can go ahead and install Asset Management. If you have any customizations however to any of the Asset forms, I'm not sure how the installer will maintain those customizations, so you might want to back up some of that.. Our current configs are: ARS 1.7 p005 Incident/Problem/Change 7.0.03, p008 Windows 2003 server SQL Server 2005 We are opening an issue with BMC to get some direction, but I wondered if anyone else has experience in "retro fitting" Asset into an existing ITSM install. I'm hoping to be able to do this without doing a ground-up install with Asset first, then Incident/Problem/Change, then patch, then re-apply customizations. Am I dreaming?
