If you are using IIS with Tomcat, IIS is using Tomcat only as a jsp engine so the port would be the default 80. This is why you do not have to specify the port.
Do check the Mid-Tier Application Password. Just for the sake of sanity, reset it in the AR Server Settings so that it gets modified in the system and then reset it in the Mid-Tier configuration.. Previously I used to use http://midtier server name : 8080/arsys but with that i am getting page cannot be displayed page. so I removed the 8080 and i was able to get mid tier login page. Also i changed password to a common one.
