It sounds more like you're logging into the mail server with an account that's different than what you've specified as the sender e-mail address in your mailbox configuration. For example, if you're logging into an Exchange server as "serveraccount", but you've got the From address in Remedy configured as "[email protected]", then you're effectively trying to send e-mail as a different user than you're logged in as, and the mail server needs to be configured so that you have that permission.
