Vincent, the post-install task you talk about, is that for instant client, or full client? The instant client here was installed as a package (rpm) by system folks, so no idea. It was however working ok, when I tried manual connections. The full client, I installed myself, as non-root and had to do a few postinstall tasks as root. What kinds of steps are we talking? Creating sym links for libraries?
