When you log into Developer Studio 7.6.04, by default it opens in the Best
Practice Customization View [BP]
I am not sure as to why you had to switch mode to get into the BP mode
In BP view you should be able to select a base [unmodified] object and use
right context menu option "Create Overlay"
You do mention below that the create overlay option is grayed out, can you
check if you already had an overlay for that object created maybe because you
had the BPCU utility run as part of the upgrade process

Once you create an overlay of a form, please also create overlay of the view
[using menu option Create View overlay] and then you can create field.

Subject: DevStudioPlus 7.6.4

**
Hi All -

I am having a difficulty with Dev Studio Plus 7.6.4. I believe understand the
overlay concept.

I log in and I switch to "Best Practice Mode" to create an overlay. However,
everything is grayed out. When I select "create overlay" it is grayed out.
When I select "create field" it is grayed out.

I am trying to add a field in the CHG:Infrastructure Change (Change Management)
task table. I ready the Forms and Concepts guide regarding the overlays. Why
can not I not modify the workflow. In previous versions, I just select the two
fields, and click the arrow to add the fields to the table. Now even the
arrows are grayed out so I am not able to drag the fields over.

My access is Administrator.

Why is this behaving this way? Is there some critical step that I am missing?
