Thanks everyone. Now I need to go figure out how to use it.

I'm trying to understand SOAP too and I'm looking at the help docs.....

Lisa,

As mentioned earlier you need to provide public permission to the Web Service
and then save it. After this step WSDL must get published under the location
mentioned by you. Sometimes it takes few seconds to appear. You may also try to
open the location with some external browser.

Also, one can get list of all Web Service WSDLs from below URL.

http://<midtierurl>/arsys/shared/login.jsp?/arsys/WSDL/protected/list<http://%3cmidtierurl%3e/arsys/shared/login.jsp?/arsys/WSDL/protected/list>

HI Lisa,

You will have to pass authentication parameters in SOAP Envelope from your
client or setup a default Username and password from midtier.

Mid tier configuration-->Web Service settings.

Please make sure that username that you are setting up on midtier has
access(read/write or depending on your requirements) to the form that you are
creating WS for.

Down the road, you should look into client passing authentication parameters in
SOAP Envelope so that you can control access to form through username.

e.g. If there are 2 users "A" and "B" who needs access to form "C" through a
web-service and you want "A" to have both read-write permissions on form and B
to just have read permissions, then there is a chance that if username is not
passed in SOAP envelope the default username (assuming it has both read-write
permissions on form "C"), B will get read-write access to form.

Thanks
Chintan.

OK, I think I finally have it almost working. Now it's giving me
"Authentication Failed" message. How do I authenticate?

Lisa

OK, I changed it to:

http://<servername>.tycoelectronics.net:8080/arsys/WSDL/public/<servername>/Lisa_TEST_WS<http://%3cservername%3e.tycoelectronics.net:8080/arsys/WSDL/public/%3cservername%3e/Lisa_TEST_WS>
 .

It was
http://<servername>/arsys/WSDL/public/<servername>/Lisa_TEST_WS<http://%3cservername%3e/arsys/WSDL/public/%3cservername%3e/Lisa_TEST_WS>
 .

And I'm still getting Program cannot display webpage.

Where is this file located on the Server? I can't find a WSDL/Public folder on
our server.....

Thanks in advance!

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

In WSDL URL, you must change the server names and port numbers to match your
installation of the Remedy server and Remedy midtier server and then try.

Thanks,
Sachin

Yes, it's been saved, and the midtier cache has been flushed.

Is it a problem with the directories not existing on the MidTier server? I
can't find this directory anywhere....

Have you saved the Web Service and then refreshed the Mid-Tier cache? (You
can't see the WSDL until you have saved the Web Service and refreshed the
Mid-Tier cache).

I'm very new at Web Services and I'm testing it out on a test form I created
(it has about 4 fields on it).

I created the web service on the form, set it to Service Type "document -
literal"

Under operations List I just simply have OpCreate

I did the mapping of the fields on the Input Mapping button

When I go to the WSDL tab, where it says "Specify mid-tier's WSDL Handler URL"
I have http://us194px30/arsys/WSDL/public/us194px30/Lisa_TEST_WS

But when I click on view I get "This program cannot display the webpage"

What am I missing?
