If you need to change OOTB Group names (i.e Incident Master, Incident Submitter and so on) please try to reconsider it. There are several workflow objects (Active Links, Filters) built based on Run If qualifications that use Group Name. In case of Custom Group names there should be no problems unless there could be some custom workflow who uses Group Name field values for your custom groups. You can use ARSmarts tool for searching Run If qualifications in Objects in order to verify use of Group Name field values.
