ITSM 7.5.01 ARS 7.5 patch 4
So I came across something interesting today in the ITSM change approval process. We're getting ready to implement ITSM Change Management, but during our testing and training phases I discovered that the "Approvers" list is limited to 255 characters. If you exceed this limit then the approval engine just cuts off everything past the 255 characters; it essential drops off any valid approvers past that count. I think they have just made this a zero length field, why limit the customer like this. For us that means I could have a max of about 28 approvers (based on length of remedy login id) per approval process phase. BMC approval mappings doesn't prevent you from creating more then the system will allow, i.e. they have no validation workflow to insure you're not exceeding the limit in that approval phase. Has anyone else come across this limitation? Do you think BMC will treat this as a defect or an RFC? Does anyone know if this limitation is fixed in later versions?
