I think that is why BMC is starting to promote the idea of doing the time consuming work on a staging server and then promoting that to production in a shorter outage window. It is an upgrade, just on an offline system then do a delta sync of the data to bring it up-to-date. Since this environment is very lightly used I skipped creating two more environments for upgrade and reference and took the 48 hour downtime (because I could at the time).
