Axton, The team here has confirmed that there is a problem as Axton describe. The field did work correctly in earlier versions. It is not working correctly in at least the 7.5 version and it may not be in later versions.
A bug has been created and is being worked in every code line under maintenance. This is a regression that was introduced. It is not a good thing that this was broken and not noticed. It will be aggressively worked. Work with the support team if this issue is causing problems for you and work through them for getting a hotfix to this issue.
