Hi Ron, It seems that you have opened the object in Best Practice Customization mode and then adding a field. Developer studio will allow you to add the field in the view only when the overlay of view exists. I assumed that you have already created the overlay of the view and then added the field to the view.
I believe the only reason you are not able to see the fields in your user area is because of the old object in your cache. Please clear the cache and check. To work on overlay objects you have to be in Best Practice Customization Mode only.
