I have started the 'custom' process Lj suggested. Forms went quick but the 5800 active links are still chugging away. Have all the other workflow items to do after that so I'm guessing it may take a couple of days.
I'm pleased that the solution was relatively easy. I noticed that even while the server is busy with that task, records are still available via the user tool and web tool. I'm still on a 'happy' high. Thanks for the input!
