This is really a rather indirect question, since it concerns blastall rather than Artemis, but I thought it might be possible that other Artemis users might have had the same problem when setting up blastall to run from the Artemis menu..... (OS is Tru64 5.1B running on an Alphastation 255).
Blastall gives the following error.
[blastall] WARNING: [000.000] Test1: Unable to open BLOSUM62 [blastall] WARNING: [000.000] Test1: BlastScoreBlkMatFill returned non-zero status [blastall] WARNING: [000.000] Test1: SetUpBlastSearch failed. [blastall] WARNING: [000.000] Test2: Unable to open BLOSUM62 [blastall] WARNING: [000.000] Test2: BlastScoreBlkMatFill returned non-zero status [blastall] WARNING: [000.000] Test2: SetUpBlastSearch failed.
Blosum62 is in /blast/data and the .ncbirc file is set up to point there. The funny thing is that the error does not appear when blastall is run as root, only when an ordinary user account is used to run it. This would seem to be a clear permissions problem, but all permissions in blast/data intuitively would seem to be the correct thing.

Cheers Derek
