Hi All,

I am writing to let you all know about an online tool ,Double ACT,(http://193.129.245.227/pise/double_act.html) that we have written  that generates comparison files for ACT.

The web page allows a user to select genomes from a drop down list or specify their own genome files. The genomes in the list are those available form the NCBI microbial genomes ftp site (ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/genomes/Bacteria/) and are updated regularly to reflect changes to the completed genomes publically available. Next the blastm algorithm must be selected (blastn or blastx) and then the job submitted. Since the process of generating an ACT comparison file is computationally intensive, the results are sent as an URL link to the user once available. The results page allows the user to download the genomes and comparison file to their own PC as valid input files for the ACT program. If a genome from the drop down list was selected then the equivalent annotatated genbank file is available for download.

We include a help page to aid users in the use of the tool.

The tool is freely available at http://193.129.245.227/pise/double_act.html and any feedback/suggestions can be sent to us at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
