Hi,
I couldn't exactly understand from both of your descriptions when exactly
this happened? as a result of the upgrade or the too many open file issue,
for both issues I would expect to see something in the log, do you see
anything relevant? There were no security conversions running when
upgrading 2.4.x -> 2.5.x or 2.6 so if the upgrade process was done
correctly this shouldn't have happened.
To recover:
1. First fix the too many open file issue by increasing the limit.
2. Copy the security.xml file from the latest backup to your
ARTIFACTORY_HOME/etc and rename it to security.import.xml
3. Restart Artifactory.
Artifactory should import the old settings on startup overriding the damage
nodes with the old configuration.
HTH,
Eli
