"Chetrit has homes in Deal. He made his money in the rag (garment)
trade. That's what Deal is mostly, sephardics from the rag trade. yes,
he maybe sees upside. But what he paid is lunch money to him (now)."
All right, i dont exactly follow what your saying. It doesn't matter if
what he spent is considred a small future or lunch money. The fact is, he
spent it. He knows what he is doing. He would have clearly invested (Big or
small, unrelated.) in something more worth while if he didn't think a hotel in
AP could work out.
The BCH was built in a different era, but like any other hotel, it was
built around a place that people like to requent. And in todays standards, a
hotel is built in an area where there are things to do. The "Jersey shore" is
a big thing. Would you rather have people staying in a hotel on higway 35, or
the shore in AP? I'd want them in AP, over a highway hotel.
Were not living in the early 1900s, or earlier.... There is a world
outside of AP! Everyone alwasy talks about money, and wanting in coming
dollars for the city. Does it matter if someone staying in the hotel in AP is
visiting their sick aunt in bradley beach, or weather there spending the
weekend shopping, going to the beach, and eating for the weekend in AP? Of
course, the chanes are they'd do both!! Right outside their door, theres AP.
Or they can go outside, and walk 35. Which would you pick?
