Since I went to OMR the other day, and raved about it to my out of town friends, all I heard was; "I'm scared to go to AP" "Weren't you afraid of parking your car there" and "I will not go into that city after dark" I've encountered the same thing. But this worked for me. On a special occasion like your birthday (or invent one, if necessary: Clown degree, ordination, etc), invite and accompany them to your choice in AP.
