Cathryn,
My interest in the theatre, is because of my children, who were
raised in nearby Neptune Township. Back in the 70's, a really
good, funny movie with lessons learned how even "crazy" adults
can get involved in the well being of children. It was "The Bad News Bears"!
Whenever the movie airs on TCM, Bravo or any of the regular
cable channels, I watch, get a box of Kleenex and relive my childrens childhood.

Everybody, since I was born, grownups were in my estimation, thought that kids
were a real bother! I don't know where my parents got the energy and even
nerve, to raise a "hellion" like me! Lucky for me,
I was in Parochial Schools all my life, until I married and found
out how the "real" world is. When I had kids of my own, I vowed to
make growing up almost effortless. It gave me another chance to
have a second childhood.

When I came East to live here, I found another society, so different from the
one I knew in the Deep South. I conformed. Living in Neptune, we naturally
migrated to Asbury Park, every Spring and Summer. When the kids were old
enough to bicycle down to the Palace
and Boardwalk, they would come home with their photo booth pictures,
won cheap prizes and bragged who had the most fun!

The Baronet, Palace, Convention Hall, Cookman Ave. and even Mattison Ave.,
where the dentist was, all all of the memories, my kids have of
growing up in a unique, loving way. Perfect? No, but since they all
live out of State now, it seems their memories can only be kept in their mind,
because they no longer exist. Glad you enjoyed the link.
I read every word.
Sharon
