executed in comment blocks.
Yes, system macros only
(http://www.methods.co.nz/asciidoc/userguide.html#_system_macros), not all macros.
The other point to note is that because it's inside the comment block it's not
going to be included in your output file so it's not doing any harm (it's
probably not a "horror").

That note has been there since at least 8.3.5 so it looks like you
were unfortunately relying on a bug for it to work in 8.6.4.
