Gabe, It's the same problem as before, it's just that Pygments mangles the escaped $ less often. The reason you don't see the $ and the font style is different is because it's rendering the text as a math equation. If you right click on it, you'll see it's a browser object.
My position on this issue is that AsciiDoc is using an outdated and unmaintained JavaScript library and should switch to something more modern and configurable like MathJax. At least that way we can talk to a real live maintainer and get the situation resolved.
