As always, I appreciate your comments.
Perhaps I may add one or two things in this context. There may be
exigencies for not changing a name especially by an organisation from the
legal point of view. The name Guwahati was changed from Gauhati; some of the
institutions or organisations still have to stick to Gauhati. The Asam
Sahitya Sabha, UK Chapter, has not changed to Asom Sahitya Sabha
because it is both an organisational and legal matter. People often ask: Why
Asam Sahitya Sabha is not Assam Sahitya Sabha? How could a branch change the
name of the organisation without the headquarters adopting it first?
