Thanks much for all of you in Assam (and abroad) who took interest in the matter and enthusiastically supported it to make it the success it has been so far. But we cannot let our guard down yet. It is not a done deal, and we have to continue to keep the issue in public view until a satisfactory conclusion has been sealed.

To that end, I agree that all of us can do our bit to contribute to the effort by following Hazarika's suggestion:

Meanwhile as I had stated earlier, I would olikle all of us also
individually send the copies of letters to persons whom we know so that
they, if they are interested, know the facts and the reasonings fully.

Let us do it folks. For if not us, WHO?

Except the Dainik Asam, all the papers in Assamese covered the petition and
wherever Rontu had influence the coverage was very detailed. It has been a
fantastic public relation exercise . Today, the 4th, the Telegraph and the
TOI (their Guwahati editions) have also covered it adequately.

What is heartening is that people are also reacting. There was a letter to
the editor in the Amar Axam. The paper also gave front page coverage to the
reaction of two Bodo Sahitya Akademy award winners who support Assam.

Meanwhile as I had stated earlier, I would olikle all of us also

Yesterday we had an informal meeting where we discussed FASS as well as
NEPIF. Uttam Teron of Parijat Academy was also present. The beginning has
been heartening.

I hope all the NRIs of Assam origin would attend the internatinal conference
at Guwahati on 29/30 January 2007.

Regards and best wishes
