I am attaching a note circulated by Ms. Rini Kakoti at the above conference in the session titled "Networking for growth". Interestingly, she expressed her frustration that she did not get any response from official channels. Apparently a British philanthropist was willing to sponsor some destitute children. However, when she contacted the people at the Government level, there was no response, so even the target could not be established. At this point Mr. Wahid interjected that he is maintaining an information base of NGOs who are operating in similar fields and Ms. Kakoti could have got the desired response by referring to the base instead of waiting for the Government. There would have been a bit of crossing of words, but I prevented further discussion on the issue since the points were made.
